Three devotees die, several injured in stampede at Tirupati Temple

Amaravati: Three people, including a woman, died and at least six devotees have also been injured after a stampede broke out at the Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati Temple on Wednesday, reports Dynamite News correspondent. 

The tragic incident occurred during the distribution of tokens for Vaikunta Dwara Darsanam of Lord Venkateshwara Temple in Tirumala.

Identity of deceased

The woman has been identified as Mallika, hailed from Tamil Nadu.

Vaikuntha Dwara Darshan

According to reports,  The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) have  set up 94 counters at Alipiri, Srinivaspuram and other areas to distribute tokens for the auspicious Vaikunta Ekadasi.  Stampede broke out near Vaikuntha Dwara Darshan ticketing centers.    

Over 4,000 devotees had queued up at various ticketing centers. The 'darshan' will begin with protocol at 4:30am on January 10. Further details are awaited.
