Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has deferred the hearing on UP civic elections till tomorrow. Today's arguements by both the parties were based on the reply that was filed by Uttar Pradesh government on Monday in the Court.
In the reply the government considered the survey of OBCs conducted in 2017 as the basis of reservation. The state government has also issued reservation of seats in the municipal bodies on this basis.

The tenure of the municipal bodies in UP is ending between 12 December and 19 January. This time elections are to be conducted on 760 urban bodies. And Mayors of municipal corporations, Presidents and Councilors of municipal councils and city panchayats are to be elected.
A petition was filed in the Allahabad High Court regarding the issue of proper reservation benefits to OBCs and rotation of seats in the municipal elections.
