Dehradun: If you are planning to celebrate New Year Eve in Mussoorie and Nainital and do not have the prior hotel booking, you will not be allowed to enter the towns.
This is being done to manage the heavy traffic and tourist influx in the two popular destinations on New Year Eve, said officials.

The decision was taken during a meeting of Uttarakhand police, chaired by state director general of police (DGP) Ashok Kumar at police headquarters.
"Only tourists with valid hotel bookings on December 30 and 31 will be allowed to go to Mussoorie and Nainital, besides locals. It is to manage the possible heavy traffic ahead of the New Year," said DGP Ashok Kumar.

In Mussoorie, police has prepared a plan to regulate the traffic going towards the town and also on Mall Road. Police has made a 'one-way loop' and parking plan to manage the gridlock. (with Agency inputs)
