New Delhi: A prayer meeting was organized in the memory of Shahzad Mohammad Khan, who was press secretary of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, at India Islamic Center in the National Capital Delhi on Monday.

According to Dynamite News correspondent, he was famous among his friends and admirers as SM Khan. He passed away on 17th November. Rising above party lines, a large number of leaders, bureaucrats, advocates, intellectuals and journalists from various political parties were present in the prayer meeting organized in his memory. Everyone remembered the works done by Khan Saheb for the society and paid their tributes to him. Famous industrialist of the country and senior BJP MP from Kurukshetra Lok Sabha seat Naveen Jindal said that it is unbelievable that Khan Saheb is no longer among us.

Salman Khurshid, who was the country's Foreign and Law minister, said that whenever he had to make a statement to the media on a difficult issue, he would always consult Khan Sahab.

BJP National Spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi said that when Khan sahab was the director general of Doordarshan News, the practice of interviewing senior opposition leaders like Rajnath Singh started during his tenure.

Besides his three sons Shahwar Khan, Shahbaz Khan and Shahryar Khan, a large number of dignitaries were present in the meeting. Prominent among them are BJP MP from Noida and former Union Minister Dr. Mahesh Sharma, former Law Minister of the country Ashwani Kumar, senior Supreme Court advocate Siddharth Luthra, former Central Information Commissioner Deepak Sandhu, former Union Minister Ashok Pradhan, NCLAT member and senior IAS Barun Mitra, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, Director General Media and Communication Home Ministry Rajkumar, former CBI spokesperson RK Gaur, Director General of DD News Priya Kumar, former Program Director of Doordarshan Raman Hitkari, former MP Danish Ali, former Union Minister Shahnawaz Hussain, former Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University Syed Ehtesham Hasnain, MP and senior advocate Hasir Biran, Chancellor of Amity University Dr. Atul Chauhan, MP Mohibullah Nadvi, Sirajuddin Qureshi, former CBI Special Director ML Sharma, former NIA DG NR Wasan and AR Mangotra.

Condolence messages sent by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav were also read out at the prayer meeting. Sixty-seven-year-old Khan Sahab has left behind his wife and three sons. His body was buried at his ancestral home town in Khurja.
