NDMC seizes 150 kg of polythene bags

The civic body has started the drive to confiscate polythene of thickness less than 50 microns in the wake of an National Green Tribunal (NGT) ban on it.

New Delhi: The North Delhi Municipal Corporation today seized carry bags weighing 150 kg in total as part of its drive against use of polythene bags.

The civic body has started the drive to confiscate polythene of thickness less than 50 microns in the wake of an National Green Tribunal (NGT) ban on it.

"Polythene bags weighing 80 kg in total have been seized from Azadpur Mandi area in Civil Lines. Seventy kg of polythene bags has been seized from Sadar Paharganj area," a senior official of the NDMC said.

There are 104 wards under the NDMC and several markets fall under its jurisdiction. (PTI)
