NBCC and CSDCI join hands for skill development

NBCC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Construction Skill Development Council of India to train and empower 20,000 youth in the next six months and promote Skill Development in the construction sector.

New Delhi: NBCC (India) Ltd, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Construction Skill Development Council of India (CSDCI) to train and empower 20,000 youth in the next six months and promote Skill Development in the construction sector. 

Through the association, NBCC and CSDCI, which is a non-profit organisation under National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), will work towards empowering the youth with relevant skills in various construction trades to make them employable as part of the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme.

The MoU was signed by Manas Kaviraj, CGM, HRM, on behalf of NBCC and Anand Kumar Singh, CEO, CSDCI.

The purpose to promote this initiative of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is to discover and skill large uncertified talented workforce in the country.

Anoop Kumar Mittal, Chairman-Cum-Managing Director, NBCC said, “We want to have skilled and future-ready workforce with appropriate skills and knowledge needed for the attainment of the company objectives. We have identified 20,000 people to be trained for upskilling during phase one period of next six months. This would be one major step in the fulfilment of government’s ‘Skill India’ Mission.”

Mittal further added, “Construction sector is the second largest industry in terms of manpower employment and the workforce requirement is around 4 million people per year to sustain the current growth rate. There is a requirement for continuous skill up gradation and certification”.

The RPL scheme would benefit workers like masons, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, etc.

It is also worth mentioning that NBCC has recently partnered with Skill Development Institute (SDI) Bhubaneswar to scale up skill development initiative.
