Nation pays tributes to India's veteran leader Murli Deora on his Birth Anniversary

Tributes are pouring in for one of the acclaimed political leaders of India Murli Deora on his '88th Birth Anniversary'. Watch this exclusive video of his entire journey on Dynamite News:



New Delhi: The entire nation is remembering India's visionary leader and social worker Murli Deora on his '88th Birth Anniversary' on Friday. He served as the longest Petroleum Minister of India. The Congress Stalwart also served as the Mayor of Mumbai.  

Born to Marwari family 
Coming from a Marwari family, Deora started his political career as a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) councillor. He rose to the post of Mumbai Mayor with his dedication, loyalty, honesty and hard work. Deora, who had a strong hold on the ground level, had played a significant role in politics of Maharashtra for a long time. He was a member of the Legislative Council, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. 

Longest serving Petroleum Minister 
He served as The Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Corporate Affairs under Dr. Manmohan Singh's Government. From the post of President of Mumbai Regional Congress Committee, he became a permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee.

He got the opportunity to work with everyone from the Iron Lady Indira Gandhi to the country's youngest Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and veteran Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. Besides, he was also associated with a number of social organizations. Deora's efforts brought about a tremendous change in the lives of millions of poor and deprived.

Son Milind Deora pays tribute
On the occasion of Murli Deora's birth anniversary, his son, Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora, shared a childhood photo on social media, emotionally remembering his father. Coincidentally, Milind Deora's daughter's birthday is also today on 10 January. Milind wrote- While my father instilled the values of public service in me, my daughter filled my life with immense joy and hopes for the future. 

Kharge recalls Murli Deora's contribution to country
Various political parties are remembering Deora today. Congress and party President Mallikarjun Kharge remembered him on social media. Congress said that Murli Deora's contribution to public welfare is unique and his dedication to public service and India's progress will always be inspiring. Congress President Kharge said in his post – Murli Deora’s contribution as the Mayor of Bombay is unforgettable. Deora dedicated his life to national progress and public welfare, playing an important role in India's oil diplomacy.

'Left an indelible mark' 
Shiv Sena said that Murli Deora has gone through a tough journey from being a corporator to becoming a Minister in the Government of India. He has left an indelible mark on the politics of Maharashtra and the country.
