New Delhi: Today on the Chaitra Purnima, the devotees across the country are celebrating  Hanuman Jayanti with great devotion, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Since morning a large number of devotees are flocking to various Hanuman Temples to worship Lord Bajrang Bali, the god of strength and wisdom. The most popular prayer for Lord Hanuman is the chanting of Hanuman Chalisa. 

Pracheen Hanuman Temple Delhi

Hundereds of devotees are reaching the Pracheen Hanuman Temple located at Connaught Place in Delhi. It is believed that the prayer here fulfills the wishes of the devotees.

This Pracheen Hanuman Temple is considered to be one of the five temples from the days of the Mahabharata. The other four temples are the Kalkaji, a Kali temple in South Delhi containing Swayambu (Sanskrit: "self manifest") rock Idol, the Yogmaya Temple near Qutub Minar, the Bhairav temple near the Purana Qila and the Nili Chatri Mahadev (Shiva temple) at Nigambodh Ghat outside the walls of Old Delhi

A stream of devotees had started arriving at the Hanuman Garhi Temple in Ayodhya since morning.

A line of several kilometers has been seen outside the temple. The devotees standing in the queue are just waiting for their turn to come for darshan of the God of Strength.

A grand Aarti was performed early in the morning at Shri Hanuman Mandir Jam Sanwali in Pandhurna, Madhya Pradesh. A large number of devotees gathered there. The whole temple resonated with the jaikara of 'Jai Bajrang Bali'.

Hanuman Jayanti Twice Celebration

Perhaps you must be knowing that Hanuman Jayanti is observed twice a year, depending on regional beliefs and traditions. Once in the month of Chaitra (March-April), on the full moon day known as Chaitra Purnima. And second during Margashirsha (December-January).

North India

In North India, Hanuman Jayanti is commonly celebrated in the month of Chaitra (March-April), on the full moon day known as Chaitra Purnima.

It is widely believed that Lord Hanuman was born on this day to Anjana and Kesari, with blessings from Vayu, the wind god.

South India

On the other hand, in South India, especially in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated during Margashirsha (December-January). 

In South India devotees observe a 41-day-long Deeksha leading up to Hanuman Jayanti, which culminates on Hanuman "Anjaneya Jayanti". 

On this occasion of Hanuman Jayanti several processions will be taken out to celebrate Lord Bajrang Bali. 

The police has beefed up the security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident during the processions.
