New Delhi: A large number of devotees today on Sunday are celebrating Baisakhi with spiritual devotions and religious fervour through out the country.
Baisakhi is a Sikh festival that celebrates the harvest season, cultural heritage and formation of the Khalsa Panth. The festival is widely observed on April 13 and occasionally on April 14.
In Punjab and many other northern states, Baisakhi symbolises the spring harvest and serves as an occasion of gratitude for both agricultural abundance and spiritual legacy.

Thousands of devotees are flocking to the sacred precincts of Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar and offering prayers and taking holy dips in the Sarovar.
The whole city of Amritsar is resonated with hymns and spiritual chants. The community kitchens (langars) are serving thousands of visitors.

“The tenth Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, established the Khalsa Panth on the day of Vaisakhi in 1699 at Sri Anandpur Sahib, showing the path of living with dignity. This chapter of Sikh history holds great significance in the religious history of the world,” said Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member Bhai Manjit Singh.

In all the Gurudwaras through out India and abroad early morning prayers were held along with recitations from sacred texts.

The langars serving special dishes such as kada prasad, phirini, and saffron rice, were hosted in all the Gurudwaras.
