Nagpur: The Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's tomb, located in Khuldabad, Maharashtra, row has triggered a political and ideological tension in the state.
Hindu outfits, such as Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), are seeking the removal of Aurangzeb's tomb.
This religious group argued that Aurangzeb was a tyrant who brutally persecuted Hindus and executed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in 1689.
Protests demanded that the Maharashtra government should not preserve the tomb of a ruler who mercilessly killed one of the state’s greatest heroes.
The protestors further submitted a memorandum to local authorities, demanding immediate action to remove the historical structure.

Hindu groups argue that Aurangzeb was one of the most cruel rulers in Indian history, responsible for temple destructions, forced conversions, and the execution of Maratha warriors.
They believe that preserving his tomb is an insult to Maharashtra’s rich history and the sacrifices of the Marathas.
CM Devendra Fadnavis Statement
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday informed that five FIRs have been registered in connection with the Nagpur Violence.
Besides, 50 people were also arrested for their alleged link in the violence, according to the CM.

Following the violence in central Nagpur, the administration has imposed curfew in some areas and also issued prohibitory orders to maintain law and order.
Speaking in legislative assembly, the CM said that it looked like a conspiracy as specific houses, establishments were targeted by mob.
At least 33 police personnel, including 3 deputy commissioners of police, were injured in Nagpur Violence, Fadnavis said, adding that seven civilians also sustained serious injuries.
