Naypyidaw: Myanmar was shaken by two strong back-to-back earthquakes on Friday. Quakes tremors were also felt in the neighbouring countries.

The two consecutive earthquakes were measured 7.7 and 6.4 on the Richter scale, according to United States Geological Survey (USGS). 

The Epicentre

The epicenter was reported to be in central Myanmar which is about 50 kilometers east of the city of Monywa.

PM Modi's Prayers And Sympathies 

Taking to social media, Prime Minister Narendra Nodi extended his sympathies and prayers to the victims, reaffirming India’s commitment to providing aid in this hour of the natural disaster.

"Concerned by the situation in the wake of the Earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. Praying for the safety and wellbeing of everyone. India stands ready to offer all possible assistance. In this regard, asked our authorities to be on standby. Also asked the MEA to remain in touch with the Governments of Myanmar and Thailand," PM Modi wrote on X.
