Mumbai : A 68-year-old woman died after a fire broke out on the 9th floor of an apartment building in the Mulund area of Mumbai on Friday.
The deceased was identified as SM Aanandi (68).
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) reported the incident at 12:24 pm at Opal Apartment, located near the Sonapur signal on LBS Road in Mulund (West), Mumbai.

As soon as the information about the fire was received, fire officials reached the spot and started conducting their dousing operations.
"The fire was confined to the 9th floor of the Gr+upper 16-storey residential building. An elderly woman died in the fire incident. The reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained, " said BMC officials.
The officials further said that a firefighting operation is underway.

Earlier on September 7, three people were injured after a fire broke out at a residential building in Mumbai's Kurla area, an official said.
As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the trapped people were rescued safely and the fire was brought under control. (with Agency inputs)
