Mumbai: 7 killed, over 40 injured after massive fire breaks out at 7-story building

A massive fire at a residential building in Mumbai's Goregaon claimed the lives of seven people, while 40 others were admitted to the hospital with severe burn injuries. Read further on Dynamite News:

Mumbai: At least seven people were killed, while over 40 others were injured after a massive fire broke out at a building in Goregaon. The incident happened in the wee hours of on Friday.

Several two-wheelers and cars were also destroyed in the fire. A video showed firefighting operations underway at the building. Firefighting operations began as soon as officials reached the spot and those injured were shifted to a hospital for treatment. The blaze was later brought under control and cooling efforts were underway.

According to the locals, the cloth lying in the parking area had caught fire after which the blaze spread to the entire area. Investigations were underway to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for the kin of those who died in the fire incident.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also expressed grief over the incident and said he was in touch with the BMC and the Mumbai Police and that all assistance was being provided. (with agency input)
