MP: 13 arrested for violence in Mhow after Champions Trophy win by India

Bhopal: Thirteen people have been arrested so far in connection with clashes in Mhow after stone pelting incidents at a procession celebrating the Indian cricket team's victory in the ICC Champions Trophy final.

Police said there were five incidents of violence in Mhow. At least three cars and several two-wheelers were set afire during violence.

Indore Collector Ashish Singh said the police have so far arrested 13 persons on charges of indulging in arson and violence and more FIRs will be registered if required.  

"Peace is restored in the area at present. Nobody will be spared and stringent action will be taken against those responsible for it (violence)," Singh said.

The collector appealed to the people not to spread rumours/messages on social media and warned of action against those indulging in such acts.

Victory Procession

After the Champions Trophy win by India, a procession was taken out from different areas in Mhow to celebrate the victory. Later during the procession, one of the groups had a dispute with others over bursting of firecrackers, as per the initial reports.  Later the dispute resulted in widespread violence.
