Miami Open: Federer beats Roberto Bautista Agut, reaches quarterfinals

Federer beat Agut 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) in the fourth round of the Miami Open.

Miami: Swiss maestro Roger Federer thrashed Roberto Bautista Agut at the Miami Open and advanced to the quarterfinals at Crandon Park in Key Biscayne, Florida.

Federer beat Agut 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) on Tuesday in the fourth round of the Miami Open.

The 35-year-old dominated from the beginning of the game as it took only two hours, including a couple of tie-breaks, to see off the Spanish 14th seed.

Federer will next face Czech 10th seed Tomas Berdych in the quarter-finals.

Berdych, the 2010 Miami runner-up, beat Adrian Mannarino 6-3 7-5 to the reach the quarter-finals in Miami for the eighth time in the last 10 years.

Meanwhile, Japan's Kei Nishikori reached quarter-finals after beating Argentine Federico Delbonis 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

The second seed, will now face Italian Fabio Fognini who defeated American Donald Young 6-0, 6-4. (ANI)
