MCD school wall collapses due to downpour, two injured

New Delhi: Two people were injured in Dichaon area of Delhi after wall of a MCD school fell on them along with an uprooted tree due to heavy rains.

The Uprooted Tree fell

The incident happened on Friday. "Due to heavy rain, an old and big Neem tree got uprooted and fell on the MCD school wall and this uprooted tree along with school wall fell on the riders of two motorcycles, who were under the tree to save themselves from rain," a police official said.

Rainfall Caused Accident

The injured have been identified as Rajesh (25) and Ashok Kumar Yadav (32) and were taken to the Rao Tula Ram Memorial Hospital by the PCR. Both motorcycles were damaged in the incident.

The two injured persons have now been discharged from the hospital, police officials said.

Parts of Delhi-NCR witnessed rains of Friday which led to traffic snarls and waterlogging in some places of national captial. According to IMD, significant amount of rainfall occurred in Delhi on Friday from 8.30 am to 10.30 pm in some parts of Delhi such as Palam.

IMD Issued Orange Alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had sounded an orange alert for many parts of Delhi-NCR, predicting light to moderate rain or thunderstorms accompanied by gusty wind (30-40 km/hour).

The maximum temperature settled at 34.8 degrees Celsius, 0.6 notch above normal, while the minimum was 26.6 degrees Celsius, 0.4 degrees below normal. The Air Quality Index remained in the ‘satisfactory’ category, with a reading of 59. (with Agency inputs)
