Manipur: Several militants arrested from two district; Arms & ammunition recovered

Imphal: Nine militants were arrested by security forces from Imphal East and Thoubal districts, Manipur Police said on Saturday.

Members of Noyon Held
Of these, four are active members of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Noyon). They were involved in kidnapping and extortion cases. They were arested from Chingdompok area of Thoubal district on Friday, according to the police. 

In a separate operation, four active members of KCP (PWG), who were involved in extortion activities, were held from Khabeisoi area in Imphal East district. 

Arms and Ammunition seized
Meanwhile, one active member of UNLF(Pambei) was arrested from Nungoi Awang Leikai area. He was involved in extortion activities and transportation of arms and ammunition in and around Imphal city, the police said. 

The Centre has imposed the President's rule days after state CM Biren Singh tendered his resignation from the post. (With Agency Inputs)
