Man held with drugs worth Rs 2 lakh in Goa

A man has been arrested for allegedly possessing drugs worth over Rs 2 lakh in North Goa district, police said Wednesday.

Panaji: A 24-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly possessing drugs worth over Rs 2 lakh in North Goa district, police said Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and nabbed the accused, Subhash Tamang, from a parking space near Calangute beach Tuesday evening and seized the drugs from him, police inspector Jivba Dalvi said.

Tamang, a native of West Bengal, was carrying 'charas', valued at around Rs 1.8 lakh, and 'ganja' worth Rs 25,000, he said.

The accused was subsequently arrested and booked under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Dalvi added. (PTI)
