Man arrested for killing girlfriend in Punjab's Ludhiana

Ludhiana: Police have arrested a man for his alleged involvement in killing his girlfriend in Ludhiana's Gill village.

According to the police, the accused, who has been identified as Jasveer Singh alias Jassi had an illicit relationship with the victim Sandeep Kaur, who was divorced and had a 13-year-old daughter. The police said the accused is also married and has two children.

"The accused had murdered the girl with a sharp weapon yesterday on August 4, all of which was recovered from a vacant plot located in Ring Road City in Gill village, Ludhiana. During the investigation, the police identified the accused and arrested him within about 6 hours," ADCP Zone 2 Dev Singh.

"The accused suspected that his girlfriend was talking to another person and due to this, he wanted to stop her from going to Canada. Due to which, on August 4, he made her sit in his car from a religious place and later murdered her. The police have recovered the car used in the crime, the sharp weapon and the Activa of the girl," he added.

Earlier, in another horrific incident that took place in Maharashtra's Palghar, a 43-year-old married man allegedly killed his girlfriend by drowning her in a tub of water, police said.

The accused, identified as Manohan Ravi Shankar Shukla, a resident of Vasai was arrested.
Following the murder, the accused stuffed the body of the woman in a suitcase and threw it in the Pardi area of Gujarat, as per police.

The deceased identified as Nayana Mahat (28), had previously filed a case of rape against Shukla at Waliv and Virar police stations.

"The accused threatened and pressured the woman to withdraw the case. When the woman refused, the man killed her by drowning in a tub of water," police said. (ANI)
