Mumbai: Both the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the ruling Mahayuti alliance are grappling with significant challenges ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly polls. The MVA has to placate its rebel leaders to prevent them from contesting as independents, while Mahayuti is struggling with its internal infighting.

According to Dynamite News correspondent, the differences between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress have also come to light.
Dynamite News had predicted three days ago that the INDIA alliance in Maharashtra was on shaky ground and might break apart. Additionally, we reported that Congress would keep in mind the upcoming Uttar Pradesh by-elections while negotiating with the Samajwadi Party on seat-sharing for the Maharashtra polls. As it turns out, our analysis has proven accurate.

Notably, Samajwadi Party was expecting at least five seats from its alliance partners in Maharashtra. When it did not get seats from Congress and MVA, total nine candidates of Samajwadi Party filed nomination on the last day.

With the filing of nomination papers by SP candidates, the candidates of the MVA have come face to face and the political equations have also changed. A situation of friendly competition has emerged on many seats within the MVA. At the same time, rebels have also created problem for the alliance on many seats. SP has created a new problem within the MVA by fielding its candidates on nine seats.

However, the current SP MLAs Abu Azmi and Raees Sheikh will contest the polls with the support of MVA. But apart from these, SP has also fielded the remaining seven candidates, where other candidates of the alliance are also contesting.

Mahayuti
A similar situation has also arisen in the Mahayuti. In the ruling Mahayuti, either the candidates of the alliance parties are contesting on at least 10 seats or some rebels who have broken away from them. As a result, the Mahayuti will also have to face a double competition on these seats. First, from the candidates of its own constituent party and second, from the candidates of the opposition MVA.

Nawab Malik
The name and seat which is causing the most rift in the Mahayuti is former minister Nawab Malik and his seat Mankhurd Shivajinagar. Nawab Malik has been made the candidate by the NCP Ajit Pawar faction but the ally BJP has refused to support him. The BJP also launched a scathing attack on Nawab Malik and opposed giving him a ticket due to his alleged association with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Now, both alliances are engaged in damage control excercise to end the infighting within the alliances. It is reported that both the alliances can resolve this dispute before the last date of withdrawal of nominations, November 4. Some candidates can be persuaded to withdraw their nominations. The seats of SP in Mahavikas Aghadi and their position will also become clear after November 4.
