Aurangabad: Five people were killed and three others sustained serious injuries after a pickup tempo collided with a MSRTC bus near hotel Swaraj at Gade-Jalgaon village on Aurangabad-Jalna highway.

According to police, the incident occured last night when a MSRTC Pune-Kalamnuri bus going towards Jalna and a bolero pickup tempo accompaining workers coming from opposition direction collided.

The pickup driver lost control over vehicle and crossed to the other side of divider hitting the bus, said police.

Five people were killed on the spot while 3 others sustained serious injuries in the severe collision.

The deceased have been identified as Ashok Chavan (45),Parutai Chavan (40), Shantilal Chavan (50), Ranjit Chavan (38) and Lahu Rathod (55) all hailing from Aurangabad.

Police team reached the spot and sent the dead bodies for postmortem.

Injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital, police added. (UNI)
