Maharashtra: 10 people killed, above 20 injured after container hits several vehicles in Dhule

Mumbai: At least 10 people are reported killed and about 20 others have been injured after a container hit several vehicles before it overturned on the Mumbai-Agra Highway on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred in the Palasner village along the Madhya Pradesh border in Shirpur taluka of Dhule district more than 300 km from the state capital, according to the Maharashtra Highway Police.
According to reports, the brakes of the truck failed. As a result the driver lost control over the vehicle and hit two motorcycles, a car and another container from the rear side.

The truck then rammed into a hotel near a bus stop on the highway and overturned, a police official said.
As per Agency reports, the truck was on its way to Dhule from Madhya Pradesh.

The victims included some passengers waiting for a bus at the stop, he said.
The injured were rushed to hospitals in Shirpur and Dhule, the police said. (with Agency inputs)
