Prayagraj: Over 15 million devotees took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam on Makar Sankranti on Tuesday morning, marking the first 'Amrit Snan' of the Maha Kumbh 2025, reports Dynamite News correspondent. 

Braving the cold, millions of pilgrims from India and abroad arrived at the Sangam – the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati – for the Amrit Snan. At Brahma Muhurta (period just before sunrise), countless devotees immersed themselves in the holy waters.

Naga Sadhus: Amrit Snan

The Naga Sadhus of Panchayat Nirvani Akhara performed the Amrit Snan in royal form, adorned with spears, tridents, and swords. Riding horses and chariots, sadhus and saints led a grand procession.

Maha Kumbh profile
Held once every 12 years, people attend Maha Kumbh to take a dip in the sacred waters, believed to wash away sins and purify the soul. Maha Kumbh 2025 is expected to bring more than 40 crore people to Prayagraj.

Over 15 million take a holy dip on Makar Sankranti 

Thirteen Akharas of various sects including Nagas, Sannyasi and Sikh Sampradaya take holy dip at Triveni Sangam. 

The Maha Kumbh is expected to bring more than 40 crore people to Prayagraj. The Mela will conclude on 26 February.
