Maha Kumbh: Bus with devotees collides with truck at Chhttisgarh border; One dead, several injured

Pendra (Chhattisgarh): A bus full of devotees travelling to Prayagraj collided with a truck on the Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh border on Wednesday morning killing one person and injuring several others, officials said.

Sub-divisional police officer Shyam Sidar said that the bus collided with a truck loaded with coal. He further informed that the injured victims have been referred to the Annupur District Hospital.

"A bus travelling from Raipur collided with a backdown trailer loaded with coal that was standing at the Anuppur-Chhattisgarh border. Many devotees have been injured, and one has died. The injured have been referred to the Anuppur District Hospital," the official said.

The accident happened due to the truck parked in the middle of the road...Highway patrolling is investigating the matter," he added.
Further investigations are underway by the highway patrolling team, the official added.

Another Incident

In another accident last week, at least 10 people, all of whom were devotees from Chhattisgarh traveling to the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, died after their Bolero car collided with a bus on the Mirzapur-Prayagraj highway. 

The crash, which took place around midnight, also left 19 others injured.
 
The devotees, all from Korba, Chhattisgarh, were traveling to the Sangam for a holy dip. The bus involved in the collision also carried pilgrims from Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh.

"Ten people died after a car carrying devotees from Chhattisgarh to the Maha Kumbh collided with a bus. The accident occurred on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway around midnight. The bodies have been taken to Swaroop Rani Medical Hospital for post-mortem. Further investigation is going on," Prayagraj Additional SP Vivek Chandra Yadav said.

CM Yogi Adityanath orders relief   
 
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to reach the accident site and ensure that relief and rescue efforts were carried out. He also instructed authorities to provide medical treatment to the injured.  
 
The state administration is monitoring road safety measures, especially during the Maha Kumbh Mela, which has seen millions of devotees arriving in Prayagraj.
