BHOPAL: Five youths drowned to death in two separate incidents in Harda and Jabalpur districts on Sunday. One of the deceased was the son of a BJP leader.

According to reports three teenagers drowned in the Ajnal river near Gupteshwar temple, in Harda district on Sunday afternoon. The home guards and divers managed to pull out the bodies from the water and they were rushed to the district hospital where they were declared dead. The deceased were identified as Kishore Sonu, Tilak and Mohit, all teenagers. 

The boys were residents of Hiwala village in Chhipabad police station area and had come to Harda for catering work.

According to eyewitnesses, the clothes and a mobile belonging to the three boys were found on the river bank. The mobile bill had the address of a shop in Chhipabad, leading to speculation that they were from the locality.

In another incident in Jabalpur, former BJP district president Shiv Patel's only son, Atul Patel, and his friend drowned in Narmada River at Dadda Ghat. Atul Patel, 24, had gone to the river to take a bath with five or six of his friends. While all friends were taking a bath, Atul's friend Satyam, who couldn't swim, started flowing in the river suddenly. Atul tried to save him, but due to the great depth of the river, Atul too drowned, police said.

Atul's friends informed the police and the divers pulled out the bodies. (with Agency inputs)
