Third phase polling for 117 Lok Sabha constituencies, spread across 13 states and two Union Territories ended on Tuesday,  61.31 % voter turnout to be expected.

New Delhi: Third phase polling for 117 Lok Sabha constituencies, spread across 13 states and two Union Territories ended on Tuesday,  61.31 % voter turnout.

Voter turnout: 26 constituencies in Gujarat- 58.81% , all 20 seats in Kerala-68.62 , 14 each in Maharashtra - 55.05 and Karnataka -60.87, 10 in Uttar Pradesh- 56.36, seven in Chhattisgarh- 64.03, six in Odisha- 57.87, five each in Bihar-54.95 and West Bengal-78.94 , four in Assam- 74.05, two in Goa- 70.96, one each in Jammu and Kashmir- 12.46, Dadra and Nagar Haveli-71.43, Daman and Diu- 65.34 and Tripura- 71.13.

Among the top contenders who battled in today’s polls were Congress president Rahul Gandhi from Wayanad (Kerala), BJP president Amit Shah from Gandhinagar (Gujarat), BJP’s Jaya Prada and SP’s Azam Khan from Rampur (Uttar Pradesh), SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav from Mainpuri (Uttar Pradesh), Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) president Sharad Yadav from Madhepura (Bihar), Congress leader Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), Congress’ Ghulam Ahmad Mir and PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti from Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) and BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra from Puri (Odisha) among others.
