New Delhi: The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day after paying obituary references to the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee , former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee among others.
As soon as the House met for the day, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan informed the members about the demise of Vajpayee, Marxist leader Somnath Chatterjee, sitting member and Union Cabinet Minister Ananth Kumar and sitting Members Bhola Singh, M I Shanavas and Mohammad Asrarul.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi were o present during the reference by Ms Mahajan who got emotional while speaking.

The month long winter session of Parliament that will continue till January 8 got underway on Tuesday.
