Chennai: DMK President M K Stalin on Sunday said the counting trends indicated that his party was leading in a majority of the constituencies confirming that the DMK is going to form the next government in Tamil Nadu.
In a statement here, he said the a new chapter is going to unfold in the annals of the DMK and appealed to the party cadres to avoid celebrations and bursting of crackers, citing the covid pandemic, and protect themselves and the Nation.
Though the DMK's victory in the Assembly elections held on April six has been confirmed, the party agents in counting centres should remain vigilant till the entire counting process is completed.

He also urged them not to come of the counting centres to ensure that no malpractices are being done, though it cannot be done.
The DMK has crossed the simple majority number, having established lead in 119 of the total 234 seats, while its allies Congress is leading in 13 seats, VCK (three), CPI and CPI(M)--two each.
In all, the DMK-led alliance is leading in 139 seats. Going by the trend available for 232 seats, the DMK is poised to win the elections and come back to power, ending a ten year hiatus.

The ruling AIADMK was leading in 82 seats and its allies the PMK and BJP in six and four seats respectively.
The AIADMK-led Front was leading in 92 seats, while Kamal Haasan, Founder of MNM, is leading in Coimbatore South.(UNI)
