Guwahati/ Hyderabad/Mumbai: Doctors across the nation continue to protest over the murder and alleged sexual assault of a post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor, demanding justice for the victim.

UDFA and FAIMA to continue strike
The United Doctors Front Association (UDFA) and the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) had decided to continue its nationwide strike to condemn the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

The UDFA and FAIMA said the strike will continue until it receives a written assurance from the Centre regarding the implementation of Central Protection Act.

FORDA called off stir
Though the Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) on Tuesday informed that they are calling off the strike. The decision followed a meeting the representatives had with Union Minister JP Nadda.

However, the protests were held in the cities of Kolkata, Guwahati, Hyderabad and Mumbai on Wednesday. The protestors were holding placards, "Justice needs to be served", "No duty without security" and "Justice delayed is Justice denied"

CBI takes over probe
Meanwhile, CBI sources said that a special team of medical officers and forensic team from Delhi has reached the crime scene.

Earlier in the day, the CBI took over the investigation of the case as ordered by the Calcutta High Court after arriving in Kolkata. (with Agency inputs)
