Briefly about Kasauli

Kasauli is a small town and a cantonment located in Solan district in Himachal Pradesh. The hill station was established by the British Raj in 1842 as a Colonial hill station. The town lies at a height of 1,927 metres (6,322 ft). It is a health resort, having an elevation of 1,900 metres above sea level.

 

It’s needlessly to remind that Kasauli has got a number of beautiful places to check out, because every hill stations have got some unique beauty of their own.

Christ Church

Christ Church is located at the prime location of the town. The Church is observed as a historical landmark of the town as it is the oldest church in Himachal. It was dedicated St. Francis and St. Barnabas.

 

 

Therefore, Church was designed in the emblematic Gothic style architecture which contains Spanish and Italian imported stained glass windows depicting Christ, Mary, Saint Barnabas and Saint Francis. The Church mass was started on 24 July 1853.

 

 

Monkey Point

Monkey Point is known as the highest peak in Kasauli. The point was named after the Lord Hanuman. According to the Ramayana, when Hanuman was returning from the Himalayas after getting the herb 'Sanjivani Booti', his foot touched Kasauli hilltop. Showing reverence for Hanuman, there is a small temple on that point.

Sunset Point

The Sunset Point is one of the most attractive viewpoint in Kasauli. It is situated at the end of the upper mall road. The place offers a pleasant view of the sunset. Now, the spot is converted into a park.

 

 

Lover’s Point

Lover’s Point is also known as Lover’s lane. The lane is very blissful and is rich in flora and fauna.

 

 

The lane further connects to the Lover’s point where you can enjoy the scenery with your beloved ones. The spot is located on the parallel side of the Monkey Point.
