Karnataka: Four people lost their lives after a retaining wall collapsed on a house in Madani Nagara area on the outskirts of Mangaluru, said an official. 

The incident happened in Ullal police station limits amid heavy rainfall on Wednesday morning and all the deceased are said to be family members.

“Four people died when the retaining wall collapsed on the house at Madani Nagara, outskirts of Mangaluru,” said Mullai Muhilan, Deputy commissioner, Dakshina Kannada.

After the incident, locals rushed to the spot and fetched people buried under debris. Notably, Dakshina Kannada has been experiencing rain since Tuesday night.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued an orange alert in the district till June 27. 

Earlier, two persons lost their lives on June 14 after a portion of the house collapsed in Vijay Nagar in the Antop Hill area of Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. (with Agency inputs)
