Karnataka: 1 dead, 5 trapped after building collapses in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: One person was killed and five others are reported trapped after an under-construction building collapsed amid heavy rainfall in Bengaluru on Tuesday, police said. 

Rescue teams have reached Babusapalya area where the building is located and efforts are on to pull the trapped people out of the debris.

Body recovered

One body has been recovered while 14 persons have also been rescued, the police said. The identity of the deceased was not immediately known.

The city has been witnessing heavy rainfall since the last week.  

The state goverment said that pumps have been used to drain water from apartments and low-lying areas and teams from the state and national disaster response forces are carrying out relief work in the city. (with Agency Inputs)
