Kalyan Banerjee 'hurts himself' during JPC meet on Waqf Bill

New Delhi: Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee  has reportedy hurt himself after he smashed a glass water bottle during a heated exchange with BJP leader Abhijit Gangopadhyay at a meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf Board Bill.

Meeting halted temporarily

According to reports, a heated argument broke out between BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay and Banerjee during the meeting in Parliament. Owing to the dispute the meeting had to be suspended temporarily.

He injured his thumb & finger

According to eye witnesses, the TMC MP picked up a glass water bottle and smashed it on the table and hurt himself by accident. He hurt his thumb and index finger and had to be given first aid.

Kalyan Banerjee 'hurts himself'

The incident happened when the committee, chaired by BJP MP Jagdambika Pal, was listening to a group of retired judges and lawyers when the opposition members questioned what was their stake in the bill.
