Joint Operation in J&K: Police and Indian Army killed a terrorist in Kupwara

One terrorist has been shot dead in Kupwara in a joint operation of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army. A must read on Dynamite News:

Kupwara: Jammu and Kashmir Police and Indian Army launched a joint operation in Kupwara. The terrorists opened indiscriminate firing on the army, following which the troops retaliated. After that, one terrorist was shot dead. During the operation, 1 AK rifle was also seized.  

The operation was launched based on special intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the general area of Khurmur forest, Handwara, Kupwara. The operation is still underway and more details are awaited. 

Meanwhile, Indian Army shared a post on X, writing, "On 17 Mar 25, based on specific intelligence input regarding presence of terrorists, a Joint Operation was launched by Jammu and Kashmir police and Indian Army in general area Khurmur forest, Handwara, Kupwara. Suspicious activity was observed by vigilant troops and on being challenged, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire. Own troops effectively retaliated, resulting in neutralisation of one terrorist alongwith recovery of one AK Rifle. Operation is in progress".

Earlier Encounters In Srinagar

Three terrorists were killed while two paramilitary personnel and two policemen were injured in separate encounters between ultra and security forces in Srinagar and Anantnag district in November.

First Encounter

In the first encounter, security forces gunned down two terrorists in Halkan Gali in the Shangus-Larnoo area of Anantnag. The gunbattle broke out after security forces launched an anti-terrorist operation in the area. Reports said one among the slain terrorists was a foreigner while the other is a local. However, their identities and group affiliations were not known yet.

Second Encounter

In the second encounter, which was under way in the Khanyar area of old city Srinagar, two paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and two policemen were injured, officials said. The encounter broke out in the congested Khanyar area after security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the morning following inputs about the presence of terrorists. The injured were taken to the Army's 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar, where their condition is stated to be stable, the officials said.
