JMM-Cong to fight 70 of 81 seats in Jharkhand : Hemant Soren

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday said that INDIA bloc would contest the upcoming Jharkhand assembly polls together and that Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress will field candidates in 70 of the 81 assembly segments. 

Talking to reporters, Mr Soren said: "We can't go into the details of the seat-sharing talks right now. Our alliance partner is not here right now. When they are here, we will finalise the seat-sharing talks and other details."

RJD and Left parties
He added the remaining seats will be contested by other parties of INDIA alliance and discussions were underway with RJD and Left parties.

The state will go to votes in two phases on November 13 and 20. The outcome of the polls will be announced on November 23.

NDA seat-sharing talks 
Earlier on Friday, BJP announced that seat-sharing talks have been completed and  the party would countest 68 seats in the state, while its allies, All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) will contest 10, Janata Dal (United) will contest two and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) will contest the lone seat of Chatra.

The current Jharkhand assembly’s term scheduled to end on January 5, 2025.

In the 2019 Assembly polls, JMM-led UPA alliance won the 47 seats.
