J&K: Seven kgs cannabis seized in Anantnag; 2 drug peddlers nabbed

Srinagar: Police has arrested two drug peddlers along with more than 7 kgs of cannabis in Anantnag district.

Police on Wednesday said that in its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, it arrested two drug peddlers during checking at Brad Aishmuqam.

The accused have been identified as Farooq Ahmad Lone a resident of Paith Nambal presently residing at Yall and Zafar Ahmad Bhat of Khayar and recovered 7.2 Kgs of cannabis husk and 256 grams of cannabis powder like substance from their possession.

Both the accused were arrested and contraband seized, they said.

Drug dealings in Anantnag District have put our community at the risk of harm and eventual criminalization. “Our consistent actions against drug peddlers are aimed to end this menace of drug addiction”, they added.
