J&K: IED found ahead of panchayat polls

An improvised explosive device (IED) was found in Nikas village near Pulwama-Shopian road of south Kashmir on Friday, ahead of panchayat polls in the state.

Jammu: An improvised explosive device (IED) ) was found in Nikas village near Pulwama-Shopian road of south Kashmir on Friday, ahead of panchayat polls in the state.

The police and armed forces found the IED  wrapped in a white cloth.

The Jammu and Kashmir police bomb detection and disposal squad were busy trying to defuse the IED.

The incident has come to light weeks before the commencement of panchayat polls in the state, scheduled to begin on November 17. The election hours will be between 7 am and 2 pm and the entire poll process will be completed by December 17. (ANI)
