Jharkhand Police arrests 7, seizes opium worth Rs 22 lakh
The Jharkhand Police on Tuesday arrested seven people and seized opium in Khunti area.
Khunti: The Jharkhand Police on Tuesday arrested seven people and seized a huge consignment of opium worth Rs 22 lakh from their possession in Khunti area.

During the routine checkup at the highway, police seized a total of 1438 kg of opium from a truck.
They have also seized a sum total of Rs 78,000 in cash from their possession.

According to police, the consignment was being sent from Ranchi to Uttar Pradesh. “We have registered cases under the provision of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against all the seven accused,” the police said.
Those arrested have been identified as Jaffar Hasan, Ramchandra Maurya, Sandeep Kumar, Lallan Yadav, Rahul Prasad, Sagar Kumar and Pradesh Kumar.
Two of the accused belong to Uttar Pradesh while others hail from Jharkhand.
