Jallianwala Bagh Incident: Five things you should know

In the year 1919, a huge people gathered at Jallianwala Bagh to celebrate Baishakhi or Vaishaki, a punjabi festival. Massacre had occurred on the day of Baishakhi or Vaishaki, a major Punjabi festival, on April 13. The British soldiers under Acting Brigadier Reginald Dyer had opened fire in front of a mass of innocent unarmed people. Here are five things you should know about the incident:

Jallianwala Bagh Massarce

The Led General Dyer imposed Martian Law on 12 April 1919 in which people gathering wasn't allowed. The law came into action when an English missionary was attacked by angry mobs, protesting the arrest of two leaders of the independence movement.

Bullet Marks

According to witnesses and other records, no warning was given by the troops before firing.

Jallianwala Bagh

The firing went on till they ran out of ammunition. Dyer came with Baluchi and Gorkha soldiers, who used rifles.

Martyr Well

Many of them tried to escape and jumped into a well, which was inside the garden.

Led General Dyer

Dyer was killed on 13 March 1940, by a man called Uddham Singh in London.
