Jalgaon Tragedy: Maharashtra Govt announces ex-gratia for kin of deceased, check all updates

Jalgaon: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday announced Rs 5 lakh compensation to the kin of those who died in the Jalgaon train tragedy. 

Death toll stands at 11
At least 11 people were killed and several others injured after passengers stepped down on tracks from the Pushpak Express following  the rumour that fire broke out in the train and they were ran over by another train came on the other track.

"Maharashtra Government will provide financial assistance of Rs five lakh to the families of those who died in the unfortunate accident in Jalgaon and the state government will also bear the entire expenses of the injured," the State CM said in a video posted on his X (Formerly known Twitter) account.

He also wished a speedy recovery to those who are injured. 

Girish Mahajan reached spot
He also informed that the State Minister Girish Mahajan and the Superintendent of Police have reached the spot to oversee the relief and rescue operation.
