Bandipora: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Ketsun forest area of Bandipora on Tuesday. An exchange of fire from both sides is underway at the spot.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir police along with 22RR and 92 BN of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Tuesday apprehended one terrorist associate identified as Ashiq Hussain Wani who is a resident of Tujar Shareef in J-K's Sopore, said police.

Seven live rounds

One pistol along with seven live rounds and one magazine were recovered from his possession, said police.

In another case, twelve people, including one woman, were injured in a grenade attack at the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) and weekly market in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar on Sunday, police said.

Srinagar Police have invoked sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against those involved in the attack.

Omar Abdullah comments 

J-K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also condemned the grenade attack, saying there can be "no justification for targeting innocent civilians."

"The last few days have been dominated by headlines of attacks & encounters in parts of the valley. There can be no justification for targeting innocent civilians," the CM said in a post on X.

On November 2, two terrorists were killed by security forces during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district.
The encounter broke out after security forces initiated an anti-terrorist operation in the Halkan Gali area. (with Agency inputs)
