Israel: Tel Aviv hit by missile fired by Houthis from Yemen, 16 injured

Jerusalem: The Israeli military on Saturday said it failed to intercept a missile from Yemen that landed in Tel Aviv. 


The projectile landed in Tel Aviv’s southern Jaffa area, leaving 16 people injured. 

Houthi
After the strike, the Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen said they fired a hypersonic ballistic missile labeled “Palestine 2” at an Israeli military target in the Jaffa area early on Saturday, CNN reported.

Houthi issues statement
“The missile struck its target accurately and the defenses and interception systems failed to intercept it,” the militant group said in a statement.
16 injured
At least 16 people sustained minor injuries from glass fragments that broke in nearby buildings, Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency service said.

Houthi fighters in Yemen have been targeting Israel and ships linked to it in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden since the begening of Isreal-Hamas wat in October 2023 following October 7 attack by Hamas in Isreal.
