New Delhi: India celebrates the Indian Navy day with great fervor every year on December 4 to acknowledge the role and achievements of the Navy. 

History 
The day commemorates the success of Operation Trident during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, when the Indian Navy attacked and destroyed the Pakistani port of Karachi. This historic victory established the Indian Navy as a powerful maritime force in the world.

Theme 
"Strength and Power through Innovation and Indigenisation" is the theme for Indian Navy Day in 2024. 


Navy to display its might in Odisha
Just before the Indian Navy Day, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi spoke about the strength, achievements, preparedness and modernity of the army. This time Navy Day will be celebrated on the Puri coast of Odisha.

The Indian Navy is a strong link in the security of India's maritime borders. It protects the country's economic, military and strategic interests.
