Bengaluru: After suffering a crashing defeat at the hand of New Zealand in Bengaluru Test, India captain Rohit Sharma admitted that India lost momentum after being bowled out for 46 runs.

Talking to reporters following the match, Rohit said: "After Day 1, nothing went our way. We got bundled out for just 46 runs, and then they (NZ) reached 190-odd for 3. It was very important for us to start second day well and try and see if we can not let them get too far ahead of us. But, that partnership between Rachin and Southee consolidated New Zealand's first innings. "

"But, then we batted well in the second innings. It felt like we were ahead in the game at one stage. We didn’t feel like we were 350 behind. That’s something that I am proud of .  It shows that our mindset is very clear and that the guys wanted to go out and play with freedom," he added.

On being asked If India have become slow-starters at home, Rohit stressed the importance of not letting defeats affect the mindset of the team.

"Every time when we play the first Test of a series, we don’t go in with the mindset of playing casual game. It just happens to be that we lost against England. We came close and just lost by 20 runs there.  Later, we came back and won the series," he said.
