Howrah-Mumbai mail derails in Jharkhand; 2 killed, 20 injured

Ranchi: At least two persons were killed and 20 others injured after 18 coaches of Mumbai-Howrah mail, bound for Mumbai, derailed in Chakradharpur, Jharkhand this morning.

Train number 12810, Howrah-Mumbai Mail, derailed at around 3.45 am near Badabamboo, under the Chakradharpur Division of the South Eastern Railway.

The 18 coaches that derailed in the accident included 16 passenger coaches, one power car, and one pantry car, an official said.

Rescue and relief operations are underway, officials said.

Following the incident, the Indian Railways cancelled five trains including Howrah-Titalgarh-Kantabanji Express, Kharagpur-Jhargram-Dhanbad Express, Howrah-Barbil-Howrah Jan Shatabdi Express, Tatanagar-Itwari Express and LTT-Express.
