Unakoti: In a joint operation, Assam Rifles and Kumarghat Police Station apprehended three persons and seized heroin worth Rs 2.25 crore from their possession.
According to a statement by Assam Rifles, based on credible information, the operation party apprehended three individuals along with 558 gram of heroin from the general area Kumarghat, Unakoti District in Tripura.
The approximate market value of the heroin is around Rs 2.25 crore.

Earlier on Monday, Special Task Force (STF) Assam Police and Tinsukia district police, in a joint operation, recovered a large quantity of contraband drugs in Tinsukia district, said STF officials.
As per information, 700 gram of heroin, Rs 13,950 in cash, two vehicles and five mobiles were seized, and the apprehended drug peddlers along with seized items were handed over to Tinsukia police by the STF team.
According to the officials, the apprehended persons were identified as Shiplu Ahmed (27), Maruf Ahmed (28) and Abidul Hoque (24), all belonging to the Karimganj district.
