At least 15 people were killed and 11 critically injured when a huge slab of a flyover under-construction in Varanasi's Cantt area came down on cars and a local bus after two pillars collapsed.
People gathered at the accident spot
Several people got crushed or trapped under the debris in the incident, which took place in the evening when the traffic was at its peak.
Injured people shifted to nearby hospital.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to the family of people, killed in the incident. He also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the injured people.
Vehicles trapped
It was believed that more than two dozen vehicles were trapped under debris.

Rescue team reached at incident place
During rescue operation, three people were safely rescued after a portion of an under-construction flyover collapsed in Varanasi's Cantonment area. (With ANI inputs)
