Lucknow: Six officials including the local Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and a Circle Officer of Sikandra Pao were on Tuesday suspended by the Uttar Pradesh government after the Special Investigative Team (SIT) submitted a report on the Hathras incident.

The SIT was constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe the Hathras stampede case, in which 121 people were killed.

Sources said that in its report submitted to the state government, the SIT, comprising ADG Agra Zone and Divisional Commissioner Aligarh, has not ruled out the conspiracy behind the incident and has recommended an in-depth investigation.

The SIT, constituted immediately after the accident during the Satsang on July 2 in Sikandra Rao in Hathras district, inspected the incident site on July 2, 3, and 5. (with Agency inputs)
