New Delhi: Lebanon's armed Shia organization Hezbollah has announced its new Chief after the death of its leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Hezbollah gets new Chief
Hezbollah has declared Hashem Safieddine as the new Chief. Born in 1964, Deir Qanun an Nahar in southern Lebanon, Hashem Safieddine is a prominent Lebanese Shia cleric and a senior leader of Hezbollah.

According to the Dynamite News correspondent, Hashim Safieddine manages the political affairs of Hezbollah.

He is also the head of the Executive Council. Apart from this, he is also the chairman of the Jihad Council, which plans the military operations of the organization. Hashim wears a black turban.

Among top three leaders
Safeddin was counted among the top three leaders of Hezbollah along with Nasrallah and Naeem Qasim.

Safieddin has always been considered a possible successor to Nasrallah, speculation about this role has intensified since 2006, when Iran reportedly promoted him as a possible future leader of the organization.

US State Department declared him terrorist
Hashim calls himself a descendant of the Prophet Mohammed. But the US State Department declared him a terrorist in 2017. Because he started a big war against Israel when Israel killed a senior commander of Hezbollah. Then he told his fighters to force the enemies to accept defeat.

Maintains relations with Iran
It is said that Safieddin also has warm relations with Iran. His son is married to the daughter of former Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander General Qasem Soleimani.

After the death of Hassan Nasrallah in the Israeli airstrike in Beirut, it is also being said in the Israeli media that at the time when Nasrallah was attacked, Hashem Safieddin was also present with him, but luckily he survived.
