Haryana polls Fallout: No future alliance with regional parties, says Mayawati

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Friday said that her party would not form an alliances with any regional parties. 

Her announcement follows party's dismal performance in the recently-concluded Haryana assembly polls in which they fought with a regional party and could not win even a single seat.

In a social media post,  she said that the BSP's votes have been transferred to its allies in elections across Uttar Pradesh and other states, but these parties were not able to transfer their votes to the BSP, leaving the party cadres disheartened due to the election results.

BSP reviews polls outcome
Following the review of results of the Haryana Assembly outcome and the bitter experience of the Punjab polls earlier, the party has decided not to form any further alliance with the regional parties, while keeping distance from the BJP, NDA, Cong & INDIA alliance.

BSP fights Haryana polls with INLD 
The BSP had fought the Haryana polls in alliance with the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD). 

In the 90-member assembly house, BJP received a historic third term by winning 48 seats while the Congress managed 37 and the INLD scored victory in just two as three went to Independent candidates, according to the Election Commission.
